A Boy With Three Sisters

So, it was that time of the month again and my kids of course give me no privacy. When they ask me "what is that", I just tell them my ma'i or blood. The older girls ask more questions so I finally told them that they would have it too some day.

Well, while driving the other day, the subject came up and my son asks, "Mommy, some day I get my ma'i too?" I said, "No son, only girls get it." His response (yelling at me) "I a girl, I have a gungina."

Ugh, the kid plays with Barbies, loves taking care of baby dolls and can walk in high heels better than me. He needs some boys to play with.

Whoo Hoo!

Just finished my first pay period with my new job. It kinda feels good to be bringing in some extra money, even if not a lot. With the increase in gas and cost of food and such, the extra money will be nice.

Meanwhile, the decision has been made. We are not going to the big family reunion. With the increase in airfare and the difficulty of hubby getting away from the business for several days, we agreed that this trip was not going to happen peacefully. As sad as I am about it, I am also at peace with it. The truth is, $1000.00 just to fly the family to another island is a bit much. Think about it, that could pay for more than 1/2 of Lee's school next year. Or, it could pay for a couple of months of gas.

In other news, I am so proud of the two older girls. They started earning stars towards a special purchase by not wetting their beds at night. Both of them completed their individual charts this morning. Bell's prize was the movie Ra tatouille (I separated the word so the googling of it doesn't attract all kinds of crazies). Lee got a new bathing suit. I'll try to get a picture of her in it for y'all. I'll tell the story about it when I post the picture. Talk about previews of shopping with a teenager. Yicks!

GROSS!!!

I went to the bathroom and found this on my toilet paper. ANTS. What the heck do ants want with t.p.? Since there were holes in the paper when I pulled some off, I guess ants eat toilet paper too. Hum (scratching my head)!!! And, no, I didn't use the paper with the holes (cuz I know you were wondering).

This brings me to living in a rural area (not that ants are rural but just reminded me of other creatures that lurk around). I've seen more centipedes (and already been stung by one) and millipedes in one year than I've seen my entire life living in the urban world. Uh, did I mention that I can't stand bugs and other yucky creatures?

The rug rats and conflicts

Just wanted to share a recent picture of the 4. I can't believe we finally got one that has everyone looking and smiling. We have been enjoying the summer all together. No school and just play.

A little internal conflict: We were planning to attend our family reunion in Honolulu at the end of summer but don't know again. With the increase in airfare, it will cost us close to $1000.00. A thousand dollars is nothing to throw away. I could use the money to pay more on our consolidation loan or to save for an emergency. It could be used to help pay for Lee's tuition for next school year.

On the flip side, I really would like to see our families. There are so many people I have not seen in a few years that I really miss. And then, of course, I worry about those that may leave us in the next year. Just as I kick myself for not visiting Aunty Sister the last time I was home, I do not want to miss the chance to be with others that may not be around come the next reunion.

On top of that, I want to see some friends and get the kids to their dentist and, and, and...there are many things I want to do in Honolulu.

So, as of today, June 28, 2008, we are not headed home. Plans may change but, for now, money trumps all.

She's back...but no blankets yet...

So, started my new part time job about a week and a half ago. It is strange getting back into working.

What's the latest??? Let's see. Bell is taking swim lessons all summer. I signed her up for three sessions through the community pool and it is cheaper than dirt...no kidding. $1 per session. Last summer we paid for the YMCA program. YMCA=rip off.

The first day, she cried and begged to not continue. Daddy felt so bad for her. Mommy made her stay, then made a deal with her that if she completed the session, she could get a shave ice. She did it and will get her shave ice soon. But then, I signed her up for two more sessions.

While eldest child is taking swimming, the others wanted to have their own water activities for summer. Here they are playing in their new sprinklers.


The water was kinda cold. hahaha.
