Life is good and we have a very full house

It's true, life is good. I have 4 kids, a great husband and a life most would love to have. I laugh several times a day (and get frustrated too). There is never a dull moment in our life and for the most part, we make it through with lots of joy. Every time I start to get grumpy, I try to remind myself that this is what I wanted, a home full of kids and a husband one could only dream of. Yeah, he drives me nuts at times, but what good would he be if he didn't test my patience sometimes? He'd be a bore.

Oh, here's another "Kids say the funniest things". Eldest daughter grabbed two balls from her playroom and walked over to daddy. While handing the balls to her daddy, she said, "Can you show me how to jungle?" Yup, JUNGLE. So what does daddy do, he starts acting like a monkey saying "ooh, ooh, ooh, aah, aah, ahh." Needless to say, when all the playing was over, daddy had to tell her that he did not know how to juggle. Bummer!

Hubby just called to tell me that our niece will be coming to visit this Saturday. We have a major line-up for the 4th of July. My mom will be here on Tuesday, sister in law and her boys also come Tuesday. Let's not forget the girls' friends Ali and Lala will be here beginning Sunday. They will be staying at a hotel with their parents. We love having visitors. So, come Tuesday, we will have a total of 5 adults and 6 kids here. Yicks! As soon as SIL's family leaves, my mom's good friend will be here for a short visit. I guess, the more the merrier.

Recent laughing moments

While combing her sister's hair with a pick, my oldest daughter said, "When I get bigger, I want to be a hair cut girl." LOL.

One of my husband's employees just graduated from high school. We went to his grad party the other night. It was a combination party so there were a good 300 people there. We didn't know many people there, maybe 5. The funny thing is, we got there late and there were no tables inside so we went outside to eat. Grabbed our food, went outside, and ate. Stayed for about an hour. We did not see the graduate nor did we see his parents. It got dark and we left. Oh, we also had a gift (money envelope) but there was no place I could find that had a place for gifts or signing in. So we left the party, full of delicious food, and headed home. On the way home, Hubby and I were talking about how unnoticed we were at the party and we were able to feed the family without being considered "uninvited" guests. Hubby says, "Hey, maybe we should do that more often. That would cut our food bill every month." I just had to laugh because this was the first time I can remember that we went to a party and sat there knowing nobody. It just shows how easy it is for uninvited guests to show up at a party at someone else's expense. In essence, we were closet party crashers. Hahaha.

My mom was just here visiting. We were driving in the car and talking about recent stories in the news. There is this gal who killed her mother because she thought her mother was going to kill her first. Her mother's boyfriend came home after it happened to find the girl sitting outside her mother's bedroom. Just sitting there. Apparently, the mother had a history of mental illness and so did the daughter. So, after a brief discussion about how crazy the girl must be, my mother said, "The lesson here is, don't be home alone with your child if you know they have a mental illness." HUH??? I thought my mom was going to say something prolific, something really deep and meaningful. I couldn't help but laugh at the lack of depth to this "lesson" . It was one of those, okay, here is a life lesson to learn in this situation and what (with a puzzled look on my face), don't be home alone with your child. I thought something like, make sure you don't leave your knives or guns within reach or unlocked. But, I guess it is true, don't be home alone.

And a final funny moment this week, discussions of the beach. My mom was talking with the kids about things they can do the next time she comes to visit. They decided that they want to go to the beach and make sand castles. After a lengthy discussion about this, they came up with a list of things they need to bring so that they can make the sand castles.

1) We need shovels

2) We need buckets

3) We need to take TUPPERWARE.

Yup, my kids are planning to take my Tupperware to the beach to make their sand castles. I think my mom, being a former tupperware consultant has begun to brainwash my kids. They are not saying they want to take my glad-ware or my zip-lock containers, no, it is my TUPPERWARE. You know, the ones that cost real money. It kinda goes along the lines of my mom only using the tupperware containers to put left overs away. It is like she is allergic to glad-ware and zip-lock plastice containers. But, does anyone come back from the beach with everything they take. All I gotta say is, who cares about the shovels and buckets, I better get my tupperware back.

And, that my friends, is just a glimpse of the madness in my life.

And they ask the hardest questions

I was feeding the baby of the bunch this morning while the older two were watching t.v. While the baby was having "baba", Eldest daughter asked me how I got the milk into my babas. Uh, um, pause, how do I explain this to a 4 year old???? I told her the lamest answer that I could think of as fast as possible. Uh, "when she was in my tummy, my body made the milk." What else could I say to a FOUR YEAR OLD? I was glad that she dropped it and didn't ask a follow-up question. Although, I know one will be coming soon because she tends to ask these difficult questions out of the blue sometimes.

Like the one about where I come from. Because she is adopted, she knows that she did not come from my tummy. She came from the hospital. Her sisters came from my tummy, but brother came from the hospital like her. So, out of the blue, she will ask me where I came from or where random people came from. I am just waiting for the day when she says "where did the hospital get me from?" It is that day that I better have my adoption story book finally in print.

Yes, someday, I would love to write a children's book on being adopted. Every time I try to find one, I think they are so cheesy or too fairytale-ish. Tell the truth to the kid but make it a great joy. Yeah, I'll get right to it in my spare time. Although, if I have enough time to write this, I probably do have enough time to do it. Excuses, excuses, excuses.

Do as I say, not as I do

I swear, my daughters are going to marry men who spit on the ground, burp and fart at the dinner table, and sing made-up-songs in foreign languages. My husband is going to be in for a rude awakening. And he will have nobody to blame but himself. I have to admit, they do burp really well. It is amazing what sounds can come out of a 29 pound kid. At least they say excuse me. Well, I don't know if that is always a good thing though. Second kid constantly is saying "Excuse me I farted." including when we are out to eat. I tell you the looks I get. Or better yet when they lean on me in public to fart on me. They think it is hilarious. It doesn't help that their father tells them to pull his finger because he has a cramp.

The other day, I took the kids to hubby's shop to hang out while he worked. They rode bikes and played bubbles. They even took these spools and rolled them around pretending to be bowling. After parking their bikes and straightening up, we were hanging out inside the shop. Next thing I know, eldest hacks aluggey and spits on the floor. "Why did you do that", daddy asked her. "Don't spit on the floor", he said. Her response, "But you do." Then he commented about how that was sounlady-like and disgusting and yadda, yadda, yadda . Needless to say, he told her that spitting was not okay and that he shouldn't do it either. While walking to the car, guess who spit? Yup, Mr. I will not spit. Please, do as I say, not as I do.

I can just imagine it, getting that call from the school. "Ma'am, your daughter told the teacher to pull her finger and proceeded to fart." "Uh ma'am, while at the lunch table, your daughter finds it necessary to burp at the top of her lungs (okay, I know that is not possible but you should hear these belches coming out of her, they are manly) causing a disruption in the cafeteria." Well I hope she at least says excuse me. lol.

My husband and I are going to have an interesting few years ahead of us, I can already tell. The things that we do that they are now doing are going to come back and bite us in the you know what. UGH!

Kids say the darndest things

Last night, we went to a thank you dinner for a company hubby made a donation to. We took the kids and were eating pizza and bread sticks. Yum! Kids were enjoying the food. Eldest ate 3 slices while second daughter ate 2 and a half. Yes, a half. Although it seemed like we were all done eating, she apparently wasn't but the "man" took her plate. Needless to say, she started crying (well after he had left). She settled down fine and we soon left. While driving to go get some ice cream, Daddy mentioned the incident. Second daughter piped in from the back of the car, "yeah, the man took my food." I asked her, "Why did he take it?" Her response, "Because he wasn't paying attention." Huh??? He wasn't paying attention. Where did she get that one from?
While getting ice cream, I asked the girls if they wanted bubble gum ice cream. Oldest smiled a big smile and said yes. Later she tells me, "Mommy, I thought you said I had to be 10 (years old) before I can have gum." LOL.
These kids crack me up. They are so funny sometimes. Right now, they are having a "birthday party". This means, they are taking everything out and putting it in the middle of the play room. Books, pillows, trucks, trains, blocks, everything. What a mess. This is why my house is never clean. There is now a broken window so I gotta go.
